You are looking at a very nice 1980 Z28 that runs and looks great. If you are driving this you will be asked questions almost every time you park some where. Many times at a red light you get a thumbs up or asked what year. It's not perfect but it is very nice including the paint and very nice interior. It runs and sounds very good minus a quirk that I will explain in a bit. First of all know that you will get a folder with many receipts but more importantly the build sheet (not in great shape and pieced together), original pamphlets, owners manual and even original documentation like the warranty brochure and the original retail order showing what the original buyer agreed to on price. I can't seem to locate the window sticker but I know I had it at one time.
This came out of the factory a 4spd, AC delete car. It has had a repaint and new stripes and decals but the previous owner chose to not put back the hood scoop stripe. The original intake and shifter along with a few other replaced parts come with the car. The Odometer shows 72,200 but I'm sure it has rolled over.
As far as condition I was told it is the original block but I didn't verify because that is not what drew me to the car. It was the paint and how well it runs. If that means a lot to you and you are willing to walk me through finding codes to prove that let me know. It was obviously rebuilt as it runs very strong and has a great lope. I believe it has a lunati cam. It also has the edelbrock rpm air intake, accer hei distributor, braided plug wires, morosso chrome valve covers, hurst shifter and I am sure many other performance upgrades that I don't know about since I didn't rebuild the motor. Receipts show other replaced items like springs, brake system, tie rods, etc.
On the inside you will find very little wrong. Headliner is newer, seats, carpet, floor mats, etc. are very nice. The original radio is gone and an old school Jensen CD player took it's place. The clock it the only thing not working. The back inside panels are losing some of the paint and that is about the only real negative on the inside. Trunk looks great as does all glass.
Disclosures that I can think of:
The lines between the drivers door and the front quarter could be improved as there is a bigger gap. The window seals could use replacing. Paint has a few chips but still very nice. Better than a 10 footer for sure and the paint is one of the things that gets a lot of compliments.
Quirk mentioned:
If you stay on the gas hard through low gears and suddenly let the gas go without breaking at the same time you will most likely here some light back firing (more of a rumble). Doesn't happen once you get into fourth and also doesn't happen if you are driving "normal". You have to be gunning it pretty good for that (I don't red line my cars but I do drive them fast when the conditions permit).
I do reserve the right to cancel the auction if it happens to sell locally. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction ending. I will be glad to assist any carrier you choose for shipping but all preparations and costs are on the buyer.
