REMARKS
Here is a solid 1969 Camaro RS/SS 2-door coupe with a very 60’s color combination. Powered with a 350cid – 300hp V-8 engine that was built in 1970 with correct 1969 date coded heads, and mated to a TH350 automatic transmission with a 10-bolt rear end. On top of the engine is a stock 4-barrel quadrajet carburetor. This southern rust-free car received a frame-on restoration approximately 4 years ago and has only been driven 10000 miles since the restoration. Give the paint; color Frost Green and Tuxedo Black rally stripes, a #9. This car was ordered with a code #B – black vinyl top, a code Z87 medium green vinyl custom Strato-bucket seats, Astro Ventilation, variable-ratio power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, AM/FM radio, hide-away head lamps, deep cut-pile carpeting, 4-pack gage package, rally wheels with trim rings, full length console, floor mats, glove box light, bright metal pedal trim and much more.
Re-styled inside and out for 1969 with a great new grille, bumpers, round parking lamps, a new instrument panel and much more. The new body looked longer and lower, though the wheelbase remained at 108 inches. Even the wheel lip eyebrows were derived from the Mercedes 300-SL gull wing. Although not as pronounced as the 300’s they were toned down, stretched out, and debossed as speed streaks that blended into the body side metal. Because of theft concerns a new steering/ignition lock system was incorporated into the design. One of Chevrolet’s slogans for 1969 said, “Ask a kid who owns one. Some people have a hard time communicating with youth. Not us.” That slogan has never changed. Camaro won Car & Driver readers’ poll, as the year’s best sporty car.
Those of us that can remember the bits & pieces of the late 60’s, there was always a Camaro that seemed to have a little something – something that others didn’t have. Well – this is one of those times. With a modern day drive train, a fresh restoration and some real Detroit iron, please do not hesitate to buy this car, as it will not last long. Fit and finish is great. The owner’s manual will go with the car. The engine is dry and the compartment is nicely detailed but not overly done. If you’re looking for a fun car that will, as Chevrolet advertised, “Ask a kid that owns one” let this be one for you. Camaros will also prove to be a time-tested investment. Where else can you invest money yet enjoy it anytime you want?
