It has the original motor and tranny. It runs good and has lots of power and torque. It handles & tracks straight. It has the original paint and it does still has gloss and is definitely an attention getter. It has clear coat peeling and paint flaking in different places , so it could stand a new paint job. Hatch motor needs replaced ,but it does close tightly and opens with key.Needs hood lift supports. It also has a small dent on right fender, but I think it can be popped out. Currently I have custom seat covers installed. The driver's seat has a tear along the side about 3 inches long. The other seats are good condition. Headliner has been removed. I have tricked out the dash with (IROC) NASCAR checkerboard and emblem that glows at night when the neon under-dash tube is turned on. It also has a great sound system- Kenwood CD player. Infinity dash speakers, Kenwood 4 way's on side pillars, Lightning Audio amp, 2-15 inch Rockford Fosgate Punch Subs. It also has custom tail light covers, and aftermarket alarm. It needs a power steering pump, steering column(ignition repair kit- currently starts without key), inside door handle on driver's side and out side door handle on passenger side.The doors sag a little, but shut evenly. The tires have most of the tread on them (80% - 85%) It needs the driver's door skin welded back together because it's coming apart down the seam..It has a crack in the windshield . It also needs the inside trim painted black to match the stereo system. It needs new carpet as well. It has factory AC that works but needs new high pressure line, and converted to 134 refrigerant. There are NO check engine or service lights on. It does smoke some,( no white smoke, no overheating, no water in oil- like head gasket) and will need new valve guide seals in the heads replaced.
*** NOTE: Over all, it's a very good solid z ,and it wouldn't take much to make it into an awesome show car, either customized or restored, especially at the price I have it. A 1986 IROC-Z with similar mileage in tip- top condition currently NADA books for over $10,000 . I have done my best to point out its good and bad points, but I think I have it priced fairly, so someone could take it, invest some time and money into it and come out very well. It's getting harder to find an Iroc with the original matching numbers motor, tranny and clear title. It's a classic collector car needing a little TLC but worth investing because IROC Z's are going up in value !!! I'm moving so I have to get rid of a few cars. What's really cool about this publication is that it has been compiled to assist past Camaro and Chevy owners for info, parts and accessories which are no longer available thru the GM dealership ! It has almost 50 pages of very, very useful info that would even take a long long time to compile on the internet ! Please refer to the pictures for examples.
