Yes, this is the Cover Car for the July 2011 Camaro Performers Magazine. Yes, this was a Feature Car for the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Yes this car attended only one National Goodguys event and won the coveted Builders Choice Award presented by Art and Craig Morrison. And yes, this car can be yours at a fraction of the price it would cost to build.
Up for sale is one of, if not the finest, 2nd generation Camaro on the planet today. This is a modern pro-touring car wearing classic Camaro sheet metal. Over 1800 hours were spent building this master piece. Look closely and you will see why .The list of details is near endless, but worth every second of your time.
The gorgeous paint scheme was designed by Jason Rushforth and employs Chevrolet Victory Red with very detailed white and black off setting stripes. Look closer and you will notice the side markers have been shaved, bumpers have been tucked in front and rear, the trunk now has a flat floor, the gas tank has been raised and the car received a clean 2” mini tub. Each body gap has been hand fit to achieve near perfection. The firewall has been smoothed, a carbon fiber closeout panel has been added up front and Ring Brother Billet hood hinges do a great of job holding the hood. While on the rotisserie the undercarriage was generously treated with Polyurea bedliner.
The heart of this pro touring masterpiece is a 500+ HP supercharged all aluminum LS1 mated to a Tremec T-56 6 speed transmission. Look closely and you will see some subtle details. The ignition coils have been relocated under the dash and the plug wires are hidden too. The Vintage Air Conditioning compressor and lines are almost unseen. The Magnusson supercharger was treated to countless hours of machine and fabrication time to fit under the OEM steel hood. To give it the right attitude the car was delivered to Trifecta Performance and received a full custom tune. It has a clean crisp idle, goes into a rage when you stab the go-pedal and still achieves 22+ MPG.
A true pro touring car it has to handle like one and this car does. This 1972 Camaro has a custom fabricated subframe that sports C-6 Corvette suspension with matching 14” disk brakes up front and 13” disk brakes in back. The subframe also showcases a Speedway Engineering NASCAR splined swaybar, AGR quick ratio rack and pinion power steering and Strange Engineering adjustable coilover shocks. Out back a custom designed triangulated 4-bar suspension and Strange Engineering adjustable coilover shocks keep the tires stuck to the pavement. The rear end is a standout piece of its own. It is a Speedway Engineering Quickchange with an aluminum center section. The look is amazing and gear choices are near endless. Currently it house REM polished gear set with a 4:12 final ratio. 1st gear pulls very hard and the car gear cruises at a comfortable 1800 RPM at 70 MPH in 6th gear.
There was a huge effort to make this Camaro stand apart from the rest. Notice that nothing hangs below the pinch weld yet the body tucks a custom set of “one off” Rushforth designed 19” and 20” wheels. The car has a 3” mandrel bent exhaust that goes over the rearend and cleanly exits out the back of the car. The subframe has been built to tuck up above the pinch welds and interlock with custom frame rails. The factory gas tank is hidden while leaving the trunk large and usable.
The interior has a sporty theme and is constructed of rich, supple leather. The dash is leather wrapped and matched to the custom Le Carra Billet steering wheel, leather door panels, and comfortable race inspired seats. 4 point harnesses have been integrated into the seats to hold you securely in place while testing the car’s abilities. While driving, you will enjoy the trick Racepack dash, which offers 22 different inputs, keeps you clearly “in the know” with the car’s vitals. To help keep a close eye on the gauges, custom cast-tinted Auto City Glass was installed to keep the sun out. On those hot days you can crank up the Vintage Air Conditoning (Magnum IV) sytem and stay as cool as you will look while driving with the windows down. And when the rain comes, a Detroit Speed Select-A-Speed wiper motor will keep the windshield dry.
With less than 1300 miles on the odometer and the completion date of July 2010 the car is like new. It truly is a beauty to look at and a joy to drive. The best part is that it is still fresh and ready to show. If you enjoy winning car shows, this car will do just that. The amount of detail and extra effort is that extra piece that makes car enthusiasts go crazy. The judges will crawl all over this car like a Jungle Jim to pick up on every last detail. However, if you enjoy the look of a classic car but the driving qualities of a new car, this is the one for you. It was designed and built to driven and enjoyed. You can drive it anywhere anytime and the worst issue you will encounter is that everyone wants to talk to you about the car. Not a bad problem to have.
This truly is an amazing car and it will be hard to see it go but it needs to be enjoyed. Bid to win.
As is normally implied, the Camaro is sold "as is". Also, the Camaro is still for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells.
